Travelers Joy Honeymoon RegistryThe following is a paid review…

Traveler’s Joy Honeymoon Registry advertises themselves as the ‘gift that goes anywhere”. They are an online honeymoon registry – and I can say, having recently been married (7 months ago!) – any planning that I was able to do online for my wedding and honeymoon, I appreciated and took advantage of SO much because its SUCH a time saver!

From the Traveler’s Joy website:

Traveler’s Joy is an online honeymoon registry. Simply set up a free account, and Traveler’s Joy will provide you with a registry page to share your honeymoon travel plans with your wedding guests. Friends and family visit your page and using their credit card can help you pay for part or all of your honeymoon. It’s the best of both worlds: your guests can easily give you a special wedding gift and you receive what you really want — the honeymoon of your dreams.

It’s really an interesting concept – though, as the bride, I think there may be an element of feeling a little… ick.. about sending information to my wedding party/ family / friends to tell them how they can help pay for my honeymoon. Although, on the other hand – from a guests/friend/family standpoint, it could be a really nice wedding present to be able to give.

For ideas on what types of gifts can be purchased by your wedding party you can view a sample product registry here, a sample mixed drinks and celebration wine registry here, and a dinner wine registry here – among other things that can be purchased are:

  • Dollars to help towards your flight costs
  • Dollars to help towards your hotel costs
  • The purchase of tickets to shows in the area local to the honeymoon location
  • The purchase of meals at restraunts local to the honeymoon location
  • Cab fare
  • Activities at ports of call if on a cruise
  • Hotel or cruise cabin upgrades
  • Spa packages
  • Sightseeing tours

These are just some examples of the gifts that can be purchased. It’s really an interesting twist on the whole wedding registry idea. Actually, if I had known about this prior to our wedding – I probably would have done it instead of the registry.

Why?

Chris and I were both very established in our lives when we met. Both of us are financially well off as individuals and by the time we met and joined households – we had everything we could possibly need for household items (i.e. the usual wedding registry stuff). Actually, we ended up with two, sometimes, three of certain items – so when it came time for us to marry and choose items from the wedding registry, we really found that we didn’t NEED anything at all. We ended up registering for very little and telling our guests that their presence at our wedding was gift enough for us!

But, you know, when it comes to really good friends and family – that just wasn’t enough for them. They understood our sentiment, but still felt the need to get us something for our celebrations – - so this honeymoon registry idea would have been perfect. We stayed 2 wees in Bonaire and did a scuba diving honeymoon . . so a service like Traveler’s Joy Honeymoon Registry would really have been perfect. If only I had known then what I know now!
